terms and conditions

1. About Us

These terms are between you and The Growth Lab Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. When we refer to 'we', 'us', or 'The Growth Lab', we mean Rachel Cheal trading through The Growth Lab Limited.

We provide financial coaching services to individuals, couples, and small business owners, as well as group money skills workshops. We also offer online courses and digital learning materials.

2. Where These Terms Apply

These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by The Growth Lab, whether purchased through our website, our booking platform, or any online course platform we use, or arranged directly with us.

They are published on our website. A link to these terms will be provided at the point of purchase or booking, and a copy will be sent to you by email following your booking confirmation.

Separate written agreements

Where a separate written agreement exists between us, that agreement takes precedence over these Terms and Conditions to the extent of any conflict. In all other respects, these terms continue to apply.

3. Our Services

Personal and couples financial coaching

We offer one-to-one financial coaching for individuals and for couples, delivered as a programme of sessions tailored to your needs. Session content, format, and structure are agreed at the point of booking.

Small business owner financial coaching

We offer financial coaching for small business owners, delivered as a programme of sessions tailored to the needs of the business owner. Session content, format and structure are agreed at the point of booking.

Workshops

We deliver group money skills workshops for organisations. Workshop content, duration, and delivery format are agreed directly with the commissioning organisation or event organiser.

Online courses

We may from time to time offer online courses or digital learning materials. These will be hosted on a third-party platform and will be subject to these Terms and Conditions alongside any additional terms specific to that platform.

Changes to programme formats

We review and update our service formats from time to time. Any changes apply to new purchases only and will not affect packages already purchased.

What coaching is (and isn't)

Financial coaching is an educational and supportive service. It helps you understand your relationship with money and build practical plans to manage it better.

It is not regulated financial advice, therapy, legal advice, or accountancy. We will not tell you which specific financial products to buy, and nothing we say constitutes a personal recommendation under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. If you need regulated financial advice, we will always say so and encourage you to seek it.

4. Purchasing and Booking

Coaching packages

Personal and small business owner coaching packages are purchased through a booking platform. The contract between us is formed when we send you a booking confirmation. We reserve the right to decline a booking before confirmation is sent.

Workshops and bespoke arrangements

Workshops and any other services not available through our booking platforms are arranged directly with us. The contract is formed when we confirm the booking in writing (including by email).

Online courses

Online courses are purchased through a booking platform. The contract between us is formed when we send you a booking confirmation. We reserve the right to decline a booking before confirmation is sent.

Your 14-day cooling-off right

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your purchase within 14 days of making it, without giving a reason, for a full refund.

However, if you ask us to begin services within that 14-day window, your right to a full refund will be reduced proportionally to reflect the services already delivered.

To exercise your right to cancel within 14 days, please email rachel@thegrowthlab.co.uk.

5. Fees and Payment

  • Fees are as stated on the booking platforms or websites at the time of purchase.

  • Payment is taken in full at the point of purchase unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable.

  • We review our fees periodically. Changes to pricing will not affect packages already purchased.

  • In-person sessions, where available by mutual agreement, may be subject to an additional room hire fee, communicated to you before booking.

  • Workshop fees for organisations are agreed directly at the time of booking.

  • Late payment of any invoiced amounts will attract statutory interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

6. Cancellations, Rescheduling and Refunds

Rescheduling

Sessions booked through our booking platform must be rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled start time. For sessions arranged directly with us, rescheduling must be requested in writing as early as possible, and in any case within a timeframe agreed at the point of booking.

Unforeseen circumstances

Either party may request to reschedule due to genuine unforeseen circumstances, such as sudden illness or a family emergency. Please contact us as soon as possible and we will agree an alternative date in good faith.

Cancellations after the 14-day period

Outside of the statutory cooling-off period, individual sessions that have been scheduled cannot be cancelled or refunded. This applies whether sessions were purchased individually or as part of a package.

Either party may end an ongoing arrangement at any time by providing written notice. Termination applies only to sessions not yet scheduled; scheduled sessions remain non-refundable.

Our right to cancel

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel a session, we will give you as much notice as possible and offer an alternative date. If rescheduling is not possible, we will provide a full refund for that session.

Package expiry

Sessions purchased as part of a package must be used within six months of the date of purchase, unless we agree otherwise in writing. Sessions not used within this period are not refundable.

7. Confidentiality

Everything you share with us during coaching is treated in the strictest confidence. We will not disclose your personal information to any third party without your prior consent, except where required by law.

We may share anonymised, non-identifiable insights for the purposes of professional development, supervision, or illustrating general coaching themes in our content, never in a way that could identify you.

8. Your Personal Data

The Growth Lab Limited is the data controller for the personal data you share with us. We process your data to:

•       Deliver the coaching services you have purchased

•       Communicate with you about your sessions and related administration

•       Improve and develop our services

•       Comply with our legal obligations

We will never sell your data. We hold and process data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing rachel@thegrowthlab.co.uk.

For full details of how we collect, use, and protect your personal data, please see our Privacy Policy on our website.

9. Our Use of Artificial Intelligence

We believe in being open about how we work, and that includes the tools we use.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to support the delivery and administration of our services. This can include drafting session notes, summaries, worksheets and resources; organising client information to support coaching preparation and follow-up; research and background reading; and general administrative tasks.

Data protection

Any AI tools we use are accessed via business-grade subscriptions that include Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), meaning our providers are contractually obligated to handle your data in accordance with UK GDPR. We will update this section if we introduce new tools.

What personal data may be processed

In the course of preparing for and following up on sessions, we may use AI tools to work with information you have shared with us. This may include financial information, business financial details for small business owner clients, and contextual personal information relevant to your coaching.

We do not input highly sensitive data such as bank account numbers, passwords, or payment card details into AI tools.

What AI does not do

AI tools support our work; they do not replace professional judgement. All coaching, guidance, and recommendations are provided directly by Rachel Cheal. No automated decisions are made about you or your coaching programme by AI.

Your rights and choices

By agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge and consent to the use of AI tools as described. If you have any concerns, please contact us before or at any point during your coaching and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where practical.

10. Limitation of Liability

The results of financial coaching depend on many factors, including the actions you choose to take. We cannot guarantee specific financial outcomes.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss arising from your use of our services.

  • Our total liability to you shall not exceed the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.

  • Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

11. Your Consumer Rights

These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

If you have a complaint, please contact us at rachel@thegrowthlab.co.uk. We will do our best to resolve it promptly and fairly. If we cannot resolve it to your satisfaction, you may have the right to refer it to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body. We will provide details of any applicable scheme on request.

12. Intellectual Property

All materials provided as part of our coaching services, including worksheets, frameworks, presentations, written resources, and online course content, are the intellectual property of The Growth Lab Limited. They are for your personal use only and may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed without our prior written consent.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available on our website. Changes will not affect purchases made before the updated terms were published. We will notify you of any material changes by email where we hold your contact details.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
